The Department of History of Art and Visual Resources Center is seeking a Digital Humanities Intern in 3D modeling for summer 2015 ($13.50- $20 per hour, depending on skills and experience). The Internship is open to current undergraduate or graduate students at UC Berkeley.
Working under the guidance of Professor Lisa Trever and Principal Digital Curator Lynn Cunningham, the intern will create 3D digital reconstructions of structures from Trever’s archeological excavations at Pañamarca, Peru. The ancient structures to be reconstructed include a temple and a courtyard, both containing narrative, religious wall paintings that have been well documented through traditional means of photography and field illustration. The intern will work with Trever and Cunningham to build 3D reconstructions of the structures with renderings of the mural paintings as they would appear in situ.
The ideal candidate will be organized and dependable, a creative problem-solver, and demonstrate great attention to detail. Experience with 3D modeling software such as Rhino3D, Maya, Modo, AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc. is strongly preferred. Spanish reading ability is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities:
- Create 3D digital reconstructions from the ancient South American site of Pañamarca, Peru under the guidance of Professor Lisa Trever and Principal Digital Curator Lynn Cunningham
- Explore possibilities for creating a website for the dissemination of images and models produced from the Pañamarca corpus, modeled on existing online presentations such as the Hadrianic Baths at Aphrodisias or Karnak
