Geospatial analysis connects humanist scholars to data, tools, and methodologies utilized in disciplines such as city planning and the environmental sciences. There are a variety of places on campus where students and researchers can find resources and assistance for working with these tools. Training
The Geospatial Innovation Facility offers in-depth workshops that will give you a foundation in tools like desktop GIS software or webGIS products.
Various courses offered in the Department of City Planning (such as City Planning 204C: Introduction to GIS and City Planning) provide an in-depth introduction to GIS systems.
Undergraduates may receive a GIS minor. Graduate students may receive a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST). Please consult the GIS @ Berkeley website for more information about these programs.

Consulting and Reference Services
If you're considering geospatial tools and not sure how it relates to research, consider a reference visit with the GIS & Map Librarian or office hours at the Geospatial Innovation Facility.

Resources
Software
Students, faculty, and staff can obtain a 1-year license of ArcGIS Education Ediction through the GIF. GIF also maintains an excellent resource guide on other types of software.
Data
Please consult the GIS & Map Librarian and the Doe Library Data Lab for more information about data sets available to UC users.
Hardware
The GIF maintains a computer lab for working with geospatial spatial software and offers large-format printing. The Earth Sciences & Map Library offers large format scanning for cartographic materials and also maintains a computer with geospatial analysis software.
