Sponsored by the Townsend Center for the Humanities and hosted at the D-Lab, the Berkeley Digital Humanities Working Group is a “low-stakes, no-prep” place for the DH community to gather on a regular basis to explore a variety of tools and topics. Members include a diverse range of students, staff, and faculty. Events have included:
- bi-monthly hacking days (“peer office hours”) for working on DH projects together
- workshops in text analysis, network analysis, databases, and other technologies
- discussions on topics such as DH pedagogy, digital tools, and maintaining an online scholarly presence with social media
- guest speakers from California Digital Library, King’s College London, and Stanford’s Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis
- a DH fair / poster session
- HackFSM, a hackathon for the Free Speech Movement Digital Archive at the Bancroft Library
