Educational Technology Services (ETS) supports teaching and learning on campus with a variety of services, tools, and spaces for both instructors and students. DH at Berkeley partners with ETS and the Center for Teaching and Learning to support instructors in the digital humanities.
Spaces
Instructional Computer Facilities
Classrooms equipped with both Mac and PC computers are also available to instructors at no charge during the semester. Computers can be loaded with particular software or data sets prior to instruction. However, arrangements for these classrooms should be made well in advance. Microstudios
Instructors, faculty, graduate student instructors (GSI), and staff who are interested in filming high-quality materials for instructional videos (e.g. online learning, flipped classrooms, tutorials with annotated screen capture) can take advantage Educational Technology Services’ Micro Studios. The Micro Studios feature HD cameras, professional lighting, multiple backdrops, Mac and Windows computers, pen tablets and a wide array of screen capture and video software. Active Learning Classrooms
ETS maintains several classrooms featuring flexible furniture, writing surfaces, and multiple screens. Instructors of digital humanities classes might take advantage of this flexible design to work on hands-on activities, group projects, the analysis and presentation of data, and more. bCourses
ETS maintains and provides support for bCourses, Berkeley’s learning management system. Take advantage of bCourses’ features for managing grading, enrollment, sections, course files, and assignment submission. bCourses integrates with a variety of services, such as Google Docs, Dropbox, and Github. Though bCourses is primarily used for instruction, it can also be useful for managing collaborative projects, running workshops, and organizing and coordinating reading groups. Consulting and Training
Individual consultation sessions are available in support of implementation of educational technologies (including bSpace and other technologies), instructional design and for use of classroom technologies.
