DiRT Directory is a registry of digital humanities tools maintained by an international volunteer community of professors, students, and librarians. Use it for discovering and comparing tools for your DH project or scholarly workflow.
DiRT features a variety of tools that run the gamut from software for analysis and visualization work to tools for annotating resources and managing bibliographies. Tool profiles include information such as what platform (e.g. Windows, iOS, etc.) tools use, how much they cost, and whether they are open source. You can also find reviews, tips, and tricks for individual tools. DiRT also makes use of the Taxonomy of Digital Research Activities in the Humanities (TaDiRAH), which lists DH activities, objects, and techniques. Explore them here.
In 2013-2014, DiRT Directory received funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to expand its work. Read about DiRT’s upcoming features, its partnership with Berkeley, and integration with other spaces in the digital humanities community on the DH @ Berkeley blog.
