4/7 & 4/8: Digital Humanities Faire

On April 7th and 8th, please join the Berkeley DH community for a special two-day Digital Humanities Faire. Over the past few years, the digital humanities community at Berkeley has grown exponentially across disciplines. This event will serve to connect established digital humanities scholars, interested graduate students, the libraries and support staff in discussions about methods, resources, and current projects. Please join us in conversation regarding the landscape and opportunities of digital humanities at UC Berkeley.

Digital Humanities and Egyptology Workshop at the Center for the Tebtunis Papyri, Feb. 13

The Center for Tebtunis Papyri will be co-hosting a workshop on Digital Humanities and Egyptology with the Townsend Center for the Humanities and the Department of Near Eastern Studies. Organized by Rita Lucarelli, Assistant Professor of Egyptology in the Department of Near Eastern Studies, the workshop will explore topics of digital collaboration, collections metadata, 3D visualization.

On Preserving Digital Culture & Digital Projects

As someone who studies history, I often think about how our understanding of the past is shaped by our capability to remember and also to preserve. In my past experience at the colonial archives, I was thrilled to look through handwritten correspondence, but I always felt that my historical interpretation was like guessing at the image of an infinite-numbered piece puzzle while only possessing a few of its pieces.
